Today, grabbing a drink is just part of the fun of post-work get-togethers. Literally searching where to find a drink makes the late-night rendezvous more exciting.
While previous secrets speakeasies have long-been discovered, we’re rounding up a list of mushrooming hidden bars in the metro, some, we’ve come to know, because of very friendly bartenders who were kind enough to share knowledge on a few secret spots.
Indulge and get a head start on the hunt!
1. RM 16
Location: Kapitolyo, Pasig City
Behind a huge soft drink fridge door in Kapitolyo is a small space with a party vibe.
Upon entering you’re reminded that what happens in this place is clean fun.
Behind the bar, you find both the bartenders and the DJ, mixing up drinks and music that’s definitely going to shake up your evening.
Location: Burgos Circle, BGC (Right above 2nd’s)
“Come in bitter, come out taken,” said the bar’s calling card.
While it’s not exactly hidden inside vaults or warehouses, this bar had a name but no sign. It was just there, sitting atop a restaurant, ready to serve drinks that smell of perfume and food that makes one want to stay forever.
The place looked like a laboratory –which makes one think that the place might just be able to concoct a cure for whatever you craved or ached for.
Heartbroken? Get that paired drink – which allows you to buy a drink and leave a message (with your number) with the waiter – for that eye candy sitting across the room.
3. HOTEL BAR
Location: Near the restroom area, Pink’s Hotdog, BGC
It’s like being part of a secret society when you meet people who would frequent secret bars and whisper some spots for to you to check out. Hotel Bar was one of them.
At the back of Pinks Hotdog in BGC is an unmarked blue door waiting for anyone to make that happy mistake. It stood there along the rows of other blue doors that led to gender-neutral bathrooms. Open the wrong one (er, right one?) and you enter a cozy, dim-lit bar, meant for those looking for nice conversations over cocktails and unlimited potato chips.
Location: 8th floor, Jovan Building, Mandaluyong
It has been there for quite a while now. The elevators were still working back then. Sitting atop an almost defunct building in Mandaluyong is BUNK, a rooftop bar worth an 8-storey climb.
If you’re looking to drink under the stars and among the city lights, BUNK is the place to be.With comfy bean bags and softy-lit tables lamps (as in literal table lamps), the place almost feels like a campsite where you can huddle in a circle with friends over grilled stuff and cold craft beer.
It’s the kind of bar that feels like home.
Careful not drink too much though. You still have to make your way down 8 floors after. 🙂
Location: Back of a 7-11, RCBC Bldg, BGC
Welcome to BANK.
Highly likely named as such, being located a bank tower, the place feels like one of those New York speakeasies.
Small but luxurious, post-work drinks feel like a well-deserved reward at Bank.
Their bartenders are very friendly has the best suggestion for food and drink pairings. Tip: order the chicharong bulaklak coated in pork floss. It’s magical.
Enjoy the hunt, guys. Watch out for friendly people who had too much to drink – they might let you in on more secret spots we don’t know of yet. ;p
